As a first generation immigrant who has lived about half his life in Egypt, diversity is very close to my heart. I have experienced first hand the haves and have-nots that exist in our world and how some individuals are blessed enough to receive an adequate quality of medical care while other can’t afford medication to treat serious conditions that they may have. My goal is to one day become a compassionate, and kind medical doctor. In my opinion a good physician is one who is not only competent in his or her knowledge of medicine but also one who is culturally aware. I aspire to give back to my community and especially help the underprivileged and I’m determined to learn all the skills and attain the knowledge I need that will equip me to reach this goal. Diversity in medicine truly open’s ones eye to very important topics that need attention in the medical field by highlighting major concepts of awareness, clinical and communication skills, attitudes, and behaviors.
