Year: Senior
Major: Cognitive Sciences (Cognitive Neuroscience)
Biography: I transferred to UCI in Fall 2014 with a background in Biology. I have had tutoring and mentoring experience at my community college (De Anza College in NorCal) which taught me to appreciate not only the differing potentials within everyone but also within myself. Coming to UCI, I became a member of MSU UCI and this year will be participating in their Food Initiative to remove Food Insecurity at Higher Education Institutions of California. I have been involved with research (mainly in the field of Neuroscience) since I transferred to UCI (Fall 2014) and I aim to land an interesting research (+faculty) career in the field of Neuroscience. Besides reading research articles at science library, I am a pretty good sport- i.e I have been a team player in De Anza Badminton Team. I love to go to beaches with friends, and watch thriller shows while eating some chunky ice cream.
What Diversity Means to Me: The cascade of events that started to take place even before the start of college, keep strengthening my belief in ‘everyone is human and nothing human is alien to them’- Diversity to me is then to appreciate the very idea and embrace each others differences in a healthy manner such that each individual may thrive in their very best potential.
